International Festivals

Area religious and ethnic groups sponsor festivals where the entire community can enjoy learning about different cultures and foods. Popular annual events include the Greek Festival, Festival of India, Asian American Celebration and Lebanese Food Festival, as well as celebration of Jamaican Independence Day, Chinese New Year, and Cambodian New Year.

Armenian Festival
Each year, St James Armenian Church presents a multi-day Armenian cultural festival. Guests enjoy food, music, dancing, and cultural learning.

Asian American Celebration
Held each May, this festival highlights the cultural heritage of 13 Asian groups through elegant music and dance, authentic cuisine, exquisite art, exhibits, and more.

Capital City Kwanzaa Festival
Celebrate this African holiday each December with musical and dance performances, children's activities, and an African market.

China-America Festival of Film and Culture
A short film competition, sponsored by The Rose Group for Cross-Culture Understanding, is looking for short films that explore themes of diversity, humanity, and cross-cultural understanding.

French Film Festival
The Virginia Commonwealth University’s French Film Festival has always been one of the premier cultural events in the community. The goals of the festival are to promote French language cinema and French culture in the United States.

Greek Food Festival
Indulge in homemade Greek pastries, watch Greek dancers, and tour St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral at one of the Region's most popular festivals, held annually in June.

Intercultural Festival
This festival offers an array of activities, such as unique performances, cultural displays and exhibits, VCU art student showcases, various cuisines from local restaurants, a fashion show, and a parade. Several other exciting opportunities include dance lessons, arts and crafts from around the world, and games.

Lebanese Food Festival
