Asian Chamber honors entrepreneurship, service
The Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce recognized individuals and organizations for outstanding entrepreneurship and service Wednesday evening at The Jefferson Hotel at its third annual Asian Chamber Gala.
"The chamber's focus in the coming years is to help support the commonwealth's interest in boosting economic and cultural relations between Virginia and Asia," said Tinh Phan, the organization's chairman.
The chamber also will provide a support platform for more interactions among Virginia businesses, cultures, communities, education and those from the Asian continent, he said.
Award winners for business excellence were:
• Sanjay Mittal, CEO of eHealthObjects Inc. in Henrico, Vanguard Award;
• Kimberley Maloney, president of the Williamsburg Pottery, Business of the Year; and
• Mariya Anthony Irudhayanathan, CEO of Zillion Technologies Inc. of Falls Church, Emerging Business of the Year.
The chamber provides programs for members and serves as a networking tool for Virginia's growing Asian business community, which includes 37 different ethnic groups.
